Call for Submissions

Beckett is now accepting submissions from writers for a limited time. We opened to submissions on October 1 and will continue to accept them until December 31, 2015.

Our submission requirements are listed on our Contact Us page.

Please make sure your book is a good fit for what we publish before you submit it to us. Read our About Us page.

Submissions

Beckett Publishing Group will be open to submissions from October 1, 2015 – December 31, 2015.

Submissions Guidelines

If you would like to submit your work for consideration, please follow the directions below.

1) Send us an email at: beckettpublishinggroup@gmail.com that includes everything in #2-#5 below.

2) In the subject line of your email, please type “SUBMISSION” and your book title.

3) In the actual body of the email, paste your query letter. We prefer a query letter because we want to work with authors who can write a compelling hook and distill their story down to a back cover blurb. We also like to know why you’re submitting to us and what your writing background is. Query letters should be 3-4 paragraphs and kept to one page single-spaced in 12 inch font.

4) Please attach a single Word document (.doc file) with a 2-3 page (double-spaced with 1 inch margins and 12 inch font) synopsis of your story. After the synopsis, paste your manuscript’s first 25 pages (double-spaced with 1 inch margins and 12 inch font).

5) We will be reviewing submissions during the fall and winter. We know how hard you work and we appreciate you sharing your words with us. If we want to see your full manuscript, we will request it. Even if we don’t think we aren’t the right publisher for your story, we will respond to all submissions within 2-4 months.

REVIEWS

“The novel’s murder mystery is intriguing and grows more complex as its supernatural elements are unveiled.”Kirkus Reviews

“By centering her supernatural world on the concept of belief, adult author Tansley (The Six Train to Wisconsin, writing as Kourtney Heintz) gives her story a complex and unusual framework, and having the formerly possessed Kat become a possessor herself, as she inhabits another woman’s body while in the past, puts a neat spin on conventional ghost story motifs.”Publishers Weekly

“What we have is a sublime, engaging YA paranormal story that demonstrates the evocative talent of its writer. I truly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more in this series.”Readers’ Favorite 5 Star Review by Lit Amri

“Castles, curses, ghosts, and vivid characters fill this wonderfully spooky story from K.C. Tansley. You won’t want to put it down.”Paige Shelton, New York Times bestselling author of the Country Cooking School Mystery Series and indie author of the YA time-travel novel Clockwork

“The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts is a fascinating blend of mystery, romance, time travel, and ghosts. Tansley took time travel to a whole new level, and I loved it from start to finish!”Page Morgan, author of the YA gothic thriller The Beautiful & The Cursed

The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts Cover Reveal & Giveaway

Amazontgwig

We are thrilled to share the cover of our first YA release–The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts! (#TGWIG)

Back cover summary

She tried to ignore them. But some things won’t be ignored.

Kat Preston doesn’t believe in ghosts. Not because she’s never seen one, but because she saw one too many. Refusing to believe is the only way to protect herself from the ghost that tried to steal her life. Kat’s disbelief keeps her safe until her junior year at McTernan Academy, when a research project for an eccentric teacher takes her to a tiny, private island off the coast of Connecticut.

The site of a grisly mystery, the Isle of Acacia is no place for a girl who ignores ghosts, but the ghosts leave Kat little choice. Accompanied by her research partner, Evan Kingsley, she investigates the disappearance of Cassie Mallory and Sebastian Radcliffe on their wedding night in 1886. Evan’s scientific approach to everything leaves Kat on her own to confront a host of unbelievables: ancestral curses, powerful spells, and her strange connection to the ghosts that haunt Castle Creighton.

But that’s all before Kat’s yanked through a magic portal and Evan follows her. When the two of them awaken 129 years in the past with their souls trapped inside the bodies of two wedding guests, everything changes. Together, Kat and Evan race to stop the wedding-night murders and find a way back to their own time—and their own bodies—before their souls slip away forever.

One sentence summary of book

Prep school junior Kat Preston accidentally time travels to 1886 Connecticut, where she must share a body with a rebellious Victorian lady, prevent a gruesome wedding night murder, disprove a deadly family curse, and find a way back to her own time.

Author Bio

K.C Tansley lives with her warrior lapdog, Emerson, and three quirky golden retrievers on a hill somewhere in Connecticut. She tends to believe in the unbelievables—spells, ghosts, time travel—and writes about them.

Never one to say no to a road trip, she’s climbed the Great Wall twice, hopped on the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg, and danced the night away in the dunes of Cape Hatteras. She loves the ocean and hates the sun, which makes for interesting beach days. The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts is her debut YA time-travel murder mystery novel.

As Kourtney Heintz, she also writes award winning cross-genre fiction for adults.
